The murder of George Floyd has catalyzed world events because of hundreds of years of chronic and pervasive abuse perpetrated against black and brown peoples, including in academia. It has no place in society and no place here. The Yale Quantum Institute stands against racism and all forms of discrimination.
As the executive team of YQI, we have implemented policies, and hosted workshops and event to make our workplace more welcoming to all. We need to continue our actions, and we will always strive to do more.
Today, at the initiative of a multi-identity, intersectional coalition of STEM professionals and academics behind the day of action #ShutDownAcademia, we encourage you to hit the pause button and to see exactly what you could do in the short- and long-term to do the work to eradicate racism and create a just, equitable and inclusive STEM field.
We have listed below a collection of resources to take action at your level, whether you are a student, researcher, faculty or staff, to make YQI and our laboratories more welcoming for all and stop systemic discrimination.
