Event description:

Are you an international PhD student looking for a non-academic job in the U.S. after you graduate? Do you have questions about applying for a work visa? Are you aware of all the resources available to you through Yale’s Office of Career Strategy?

YQI, OCS, and OISS are thrilled to invite you to a non-academic career panel for international PhD students of STEM, the Humanities, and the Social Sciences. Our panelists for the event will include:

Parker Emerson is the Associate Director of OISS and spent almost two decades as a leading member of the Harvard International Office. He will talk about what you should know about OPT and obtaining a work visa.

Florian Carle is the manager of the Yale Quantum Institute. He was a postdoctoral associate at Yale from 2014-2016. During his time at Yale, he was the co-chair of the Yale Postdoctoral Association, worked as an intern in the Office of Cooperative Research, and joined the steering committee of the LGBTQ Affinity Group. He will share his professional development journey with you!

Wenping Zhou is an international student and a McDougal Career Fellow at the Office of Career Strategy. She will share the available resources from OCS with you, as well as her to-do list for the non-academic job search.

Don’t miss this unique panel discussion and the opportunity to get some of your toughest questions answered.

Note: The series is open to the Yale Community, and we encourage you to come with questions for our panelists. Please RSVP in order to attend.
