W3 Professorship for Quantum Computing - KIT Germany

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), as “The Research University in the Helmholtz Association”, creates and communicates knowledge for society and the environment. Its aim is to make significant contributions to global challenges in the fields of energy, mobility and information. About 9300 employees at KIT work together on a broad disciplinary basis in research, teaching, and innovation. The KIT is part of EUCOR - The European Campus was created as a European grouping for territorial cooperation (EGTC) consisting of the Universities of Basel, Freiburg, Strasbourg, and KIT.

In Division V - Physics and Mathematics - at the KIT Department of Physics, Physics Institute or Institute for Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics a W3 Professorship for Quantum Computing is to be filled at the earliest possible date

As a scientist you are working theoretically and/or experimentally in the field of solid-state-based and hybrid quantum technologies. Examples are superconducting circuits, semiconductor and molecular systems, quantum optics, experience in the selective manipulation of quantum states and light-matter interactions. It is expected that you develop a coherent research program between KIT and the University of Strasbourg within the EUCOR network in the field of quantum technologies. KIT offers a variety of coordinated research activities to which you will contribute. The link to the University of Strasbourg is planned within the framework of a part-time appointment.

You will join either the Institute of Physics or the Institute for Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics as a member of the collegial institute management and take on tasks in the academic self- administration. You will teach basic and special lectures in solid-state physics and quantum science and technology, as well as supervise bachelor, master, and doctoral theses.

KIT aims to increase diversity and the proportion of female professors and welcomes applications from women. KIT promotes the compatibility of family and career and offers support within its dual- career program. Severely disabled persons are given preferential consideration if they are suitable. The employment requirements are applied according to § 47 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Baden-Württemberg in conjunction with § 20 KIT law.

Your personal data will be processed by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in accordance with this privacy policy.

Applications with the usual documents (including curriculum vitae, research plan, description of previous and planned teaching activities and a list of publications) are to be sent to the Dean’s Office of the KIT Department of Physics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), 76128 Karlsruhe, e-mail: dekanat@physik.kit.edu by January 17, 2021 (preferably in electronic form, one pdf document).
