Postdoctoral position on modelling of superconducting devices - Institute for Quantum Computing Waterloo

A postdoctoral position is available at the Institute for Quantum Computing (https://uwaterloo.ca/institute- for-quantum-computing/), University of Waterloo, in the area of superconducting devices. The position is with the Superconducting Quantum Devices group (http://info.iqc.ca/sqd/) and will be supervised by Adrian Lupascu.

The position will focus on applications of superconducting quantum devices in areas including quantum control, decoherence and machine learning. The position will involve one or more of the following topics: development of effective Hamiltonian and noise models, analytical and numerical modelling of quantum evolution in closed and open system settings, control and measurement of superconducting devices, and development of machine learning applications.

Applicants for this position should hold a PhD degree in physics or computer science. Applicants should preferably have prior research experience in one or more of the following areas: superconducting device physics, software development, quantum control, quantum algorithms and machine learning. However, we will consider candidates with expertise in other relevant areas, such as quantum information theory, atomic physics, quantum optics, condensed matter physics, and quantum materials, if they have a strong commitment to making the transition to a new research field. Applicants should have a strong record of publications in highly recognized peer-reviewed journals.

The appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to continuation of the funding and performance. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
