Event description:

From DOS to Qiskit: Turning Entanglement into Quantum Computation” is the 2023-2024 Model Research Collection in Bass Library. Through selected titles from the Yale Library collections and computational artifacts saved from the dark corners of Yale buildings, Florian Carle of the Yale Quantum Institute invites you to discover how humans have used quantum theory and, in particular, its implications for processing information in novel ways. Our selections also take some playful turns into the corners of computing technology predating quantum computers.

Discover the evolution of human computational devices, from classical computers running DOS to quantum computers running Qiskit!

The Model Research Collection is a manifestation of a person’s or group’s process of investigation of a particular topic expressed physically through a collection of library resources. The selection of materials models the breadth and depth of what is available in the Yale University Library. The Model Research Collection curator selects relevant library resources from across the library system and in a variety of formats. Books from the circulating collections stand on the shelves, while electronic resources are accessible digitally. Each title contributes to an overall picture of how the resources of the Yale University Library system support innovative research in all disciplines.

 Refreshments will be served.
