Hundreds of students from across the world will converge in New Haven this weekend for the 2024 quantum hackathon, where they will develop and test code on quantum hardware in an effort to solve real-world business problems.
Aspiring software developers, physicists, electrical engineers and others with an interest in quantum science will stay overnight at the Yale Quantum Institute and work for 24 hours.
They will seek to master challenges developed by Amazon Web Services, Google’s SandboxAQ, IBM Quantum, Quantinuum, The Hartford, Capgemini, Xanadu, Covalent, Yale Ventures and UConn Research.
The inaugural hackathon, known as YQuantum 2024, was organized by Yale Undergraduate Quantum Computing Group, in partnership with QuantumCT and Yale Quantum Institute. The event is Saturday and Sunday, which is World Quantum Day, at 17 Hillhouse Ave.
Registration has closed but visitors may attend.
The hackathon will feature keynote speakers, workshops, problem identification, hacking and mentoring on Saturday, and novel pitches and judging on Sunday, with a celebration for World Quantum Day.
