Tobias Kippenberg of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne has been presented with the YQI Distinguished Lecturer Award on Tuesday, December 12 by Deputy Director Douglas Stone.

The Yale Quantum Institute Distinguished Lecturer recognizes a researcher whose work significantly advances quantum science, with emphasis on the areas of mesoscopic physics, nanoscience, quantum information, quantum computing and related theoretical and mathematical topics.

Tobias was recognized for his groundbreaking work in quantum opto- and electro-mechanics. The Distinguished Lecture will be about “The Physics and Applications of High Q microresonators: from quantum optomechanics to chipscale frequency combs” on Tuesday, December 12 at 11 am.

Additionally, Tobias will give another seminar on “Reservoir engineering of mechanical oscillators for quantum limited amplification, masing and non-reciprocal devices” on Wednesday at 11 am.
