Event description:

An editorial view on peer review in PRX and all the Physical Review journals

For more than a century, the Physical Review journals have stripped to provide their authors with a peer review process of the highest quality and rigor. In this talk, I will first provide an introduction to the Physical Review family, explaining its structure and the difference in selectivity among the various journals.

I will then give an overview on how scientific papers are written, improved through peer review, and finally published. I will give a detailed explanation on how papers are evaluated through the peer review process, presenting the considerations that guide our decisions when assessing manuscripts. Finally, I will explain how to prepare a submission to our journals, how to write a good referee report, and how to properly and convincingly respond to the referees.
