Talk Series

During the academic year, the institute hosts a series of colloquia from national and internationals experts in the field of quantum information physics, quantum control, quantum measurement, and quantum many-body physics. The talks are attended by a very diverse population distributed from sophomore undergraduates interested in quantum information to professors teaching that subject at the graduate level. These colloquium are ideal to bring people up to speed about the topics, and a gentle introduction into the field.

This series is curated by the YQI Speaker Committee.

As rigorous but less broad and more technical than the colloquia, this Seminar Series allows more in depth conversations on a narrower topic, dedicating more time to reach the heart of the problem. Audience tends to be graduate students, researchers, and faculty with a good grasp of the quantum science concepts, to learn further.

This Series is dedicated to bring flexibility to students and researchers to welcome their colleagues and fellow students at YQI and open talks that might usually be had in a group meeting setting to the YQI Community. 

The Yale Quantum Institute host throughout the year professional development workshops, as needed or when requested by our researchers.  Look for the posters with a green frame in our calendar. 

The Yale Quantum Institute Distinguished Lecturer recognizes a researcher whose work significantly advances quantum science, with emphasis on the areas of mesoscopic physics, nanoscience, quantum information, quantum computing and related theoretical and mathematical topics.

 

Launched in Spring 2017, this series works at the intersection of science and the humanities to combat quantum physics phobia — and science phobia more broadly. Using music, art, design, games, and even crochet as points of entry, we invite experts to cast new light on often-overlooked aspects of scientific work and to open a wider conversation about quantum physics, mathematics, and science.

Open to a diverse audience of undergraduates, faculty, staff, and New Haven residents alike!

During the academic year, YQI hosts public talks and science outreach open to all. These events talks about quantum physics in an equation-free way, to allow you to enter the fascinating world of quantum physics, without any prerequisite knowledge. These talks happen on the Yale campus, throughout Connecticut thanks to our partners, and all over the US, part of the Yale Alumni Redpath Speakers Program.
