The Yale Quantum Institute, the state-of-the-art research hub aimed at revolutionizing the way digital information is stored, processed, and safeguarded, officially opened on Oct. 23, accompanied by a discussion of the future of quantum computing. The launch celebration featured a panel with science reporter Joe Palca, Raymond LaFlamme of the Institute of Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo, and Robert Schoelkopf, director of the Yale Quantum Institute.
The formal ribbon cutting was done by asking Yale President Peter Salovey to conduct a “live” quantum observation to determine whether or not the institute was ready to open. All he had to do was press a button….
